  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 4th December 2023

    Well Christmas officially hit Clockhouse last week. The children enjoyed decorating the school on Friday. I am sure you will agree from the pictures, it certainly looks very Christmassy! As you will have seen, Winston the mouse has made a come back this year and we hope you are enjoying the story so far! This week, in school we will continue to try to give the children a fantastic Christmas experience. 
     
    The Christmas Concerts start this week. The dates are as follows:
    4th December   Concert Dress Rehearsal - 9.30am  (Mexico / France / Scotland)
    4th December   Concert Dress Rehearsal – 2.30pm (USA / Spain / Northern Ireland)
    5th December   Concert Dress Rehearsal – 9.30am  (Canada / Italy / Wales)
    5th December   PM Nursery Christmas Concert @ 2.30pm 
    6th December   AM Nursery Christmas Concert @ 9.15am
    6th December   KS1 Concert - 2.30pm (Mexico / France / Scotland)
    7th December   KS1 Concert  - 9.30am (USA / Spain / Northern Ireland)
    7th December   KS1 Concert  - 2.30pm (Canada / Italy / Wales)
    8th December   Concert Dress Rehearsal – am – Year 3 and Year 4
     
    Please remember that younger siblings are not permitted to attend main concerts. Please attend the dress rehearsal if you do need to bring younger siblings.

    We are looking forward to welcoming prospective parents / carers into school on Tuesday 10.00am and again at 4.00pm. Please call the school to book this or a tour later in the term. 
     
    Year 1
    Year 1 are looking forward to a virtual author visit on Wednesday.
     
    Year 1 and 3
    Year 1 (Monday) and Year 3 (Tuesday) are off to the church. Please ensure that consent forms are returned by Monday at the latest if you have not done so already.
     
    Year 2
    Year 2 are very much looking forward to their Polar Express Day on Friday.
     
    Year 5
    Year 5 are off to London on Thursday to watch The Nutcracker at the theatre. Please ensure money and consent forms are sent in by Tuesday if you have not done so already.
     
    Year 6
    Year 6 are off you Bower Park on Thursday to watch their Christmas performance. Please ensure consent forms are sent in by Tuesday if you have not done so already.
     
    Things to be aware of
    We finish school for Christmas on Tuesday 19th December. We return to school Thursday 4th January 2023.

    As you know last week was a slightly quieter week at Clockhouse but this week, as we move further through the term and with December hitting on Friday, we are looking forward to really going with Christmas at Clockhouse! 
     
    Our Clockhouse Christmas
    We are very excited to officially launch Our Clockhouse Christmas on Friday.
     
    On Friday, the children will be spending some time transforming their classrooms and the whole school into Christmas. We want to go even bigger and better than last year. This is where you come in. If you have any spare decorations that you would be willing to donate to us, we really would be most grateful. Please either give these to class teachers or hand to the main school office. Thank you in advance.
     
    Each week, up until Christmas, we have lots of lovely things planned which will be integrated into the children's learning. We hope this will ensure that the children have the best time possible in the lead up to the big day.
     
    Reception - Year 6
    Please remember that the nurses are back on Monday to complete any flu immunisations that were missed previously.
     
    Year 1
    Miss Page will be running a workshop for parents / carers in Year 1 on Tuesday. This will be focussing on helping your child at home with their phonics and reading. Please remember there are three possible sessions - 9.00am and 2.45pm (face-to-face) and 7.00pm on Zoom (link to follow). It is not too late to sign up and if you are interested and are not in Year 1, you are also welcome to attend. Please let the office know.
     
    Year 4
    Year 4 are looking forward to a virtual author visit on Friday.
     
    OCA (Our Clockhouse Association)
    We are very excited that OCA Festive Disco will be going ahead after school on Wednesday. It is not too late to get tickets if you have not got these already.
     
    Sport
    Good luck to the Year 5 and 6 Sports Hall Athletics Team who take part in the borough competition on Thursday morning.

    After the last few busy weeks, we have a quieter week at school this week as we gear up to what we hope will be another memorable Clockhouse Christmas (watch out for more information).
     
    Thank you for your support with Children In Need - it is appreciated.
     
    Year 6
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 6 parents for Learn with my Child on Wednesday morning 9.10am - 10.30am. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    Cake Sale
    Friday sees the Christmas Fundraising Day and the annual Cake Sale. Please send any cakes into school either on or before Friday as well as giving the children a small amount to buy some cakes!

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 13th November 2023

    We hope the children enjoyed Best of British week and the children were excited to come home and talk to you about this.
     
    Our annual Remembrance Service, provided us with a great opportunity to remember those gone before us, thank you to all of those who gave us such positive feedback. Watch out for the video showing you what we got up to during this week coming your way soon. As always, the children were outstanding during our Remembrance Day Service and showed the upmost respect. It was wonderful to see the whole school community come together for this. Thank you also for the lovely comments regarding the poppy displays.
     
    Thank you also for your overwhelmingly positive feedback your gave to use in the questionnaire we sent out. We are busy looking at this and will communicate our overall findings with you in the near future as well as trying to address the improvement areas you have suggested.
     
    Year 6
    Throughout the week, the Year 6 children will be sitting Mock SATs tests. Please speak to your child's class teacher after the tests if you wish to know how they got on do that you can further support them at home - every bit really does help!
     
    Year 3
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 3 parents / carers for Learn with my Child on Wednesday morning at 9.10am - 10.30am. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    Greenland
    We look forward to welcoming our Greenland parents / carers for Learn with my Child on Thursday morning at 2.00pm. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    School Nurse Drop In
    Should you wish to speak to the School Nurse she will be available for you to 'drop in' on Tuesday 2.30pm - 3.30pm. Please call the Key Stage 2 Office to book a slot or just drop in.
     
    School Photographs
    Please remember that individual school photographs will be taken on Thursday 16th November. If you do want siblings photographed please come before school, this can also include siblings who do not come to Clockhouse. A letter regarding arrangements for this will be posted on Dojo tomorrow (Monday).
     
    Children In Need
    On Friday, we are once again supporting the very worthy cause of Children in Need whose theme this year is 'Spotacular'. Together we will come together by wearing spots. In doing so we will be having a non-uniform day where we will be showing our support by coming dressed in something spotty (a small donation in the bucket is all that is needed, should you wish to contribute)! Should your child have PE on this day, they can still wear something spotty for the day but will still be doing PE. Please keep this in mind when deciding what your child will wear. All donations received for this will be sent to Children in Need. Please help us support this worthy cause if you can!

    The annual Cake Sale will be taking place on 24th November for all those fabulous bakers out there. A letter will be coming out about this later this week.
    Christmas is fast approaching, please keep an eye out for relevant letters coming your way soon.

    It was lovely to welcome the community back to school last week and to hear about everyone's holiday.
     
    Thank you for your responses to the questionnaire as well as your positive feedback from Parents' Evening. We hope you found the meetings with your child's teachers useful and were proud to hear what the teachers had to say. 
     
    We have another busy week ahead.
     
    Clubs
    Thank you for your patience with the organisation of Clubs. The system has not been as user friendly as we had hoped but we are delighted that clubs will be starting this week.
     
    Best of British Week
    This week we will be celebrating Britain and the British Culture with our annual Best of British Week. This year we will be focusing on celebrating over 100 years of the Royal British Legion and understanding the work they do as well as remembering the lives of those who fought and lived during the First and Second World Wars. On Friday the children are also invited to dress up as their favourite Great British person of all time. That afternoon the children will complete a Great British Quiz in their classroom with their teachers alongside the annual Great British Picnic. Children are asked to bring in a small amount of food e.g crisps, biscuits, cakes, sandwiches (no meat or nut-based products) which they will enjoy at the class picnic on Friday while attending the ‘Great Clockhouse British Quiz’ on zoom.
     
    Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality
    This week is our termly focus Attendance and Punctuality Week. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is in school everyday and on time! We really do need to work together to improve the children's attendance across the school and need your help to do so. Together we CAN DO IT! Look out for the daily updates! Who will win the top prize?
     
    Remembrance Day
    On Friday we will be holding our annual Remembrance Day Service. This has now become some what of a Clockhouse Tradition and an important date in our school calendar. Look out for the displays on the school fence as always. The children always work hard to complete these.

    Sport
    Good luck to the Year 5 and 6 Football Team who take part in the annual Football League on Thursday afternoon and the Bowling Team who take part in a competition on Friday.

    Individual school photographs will be being taken on 16th November. This will include the opportunity for family photos before school.

     Welcome back to the new half term everyone!

    We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow (Monday 30th October). We hope that you all had a lovely holiday and are ready and raring to go for the new term ahead!
     
    Parents' Evening 
    Do not forget that on Wednesday and Thursday of this week it is Parents' Evening after school (Tuesday and Wednesday for South Africa). Teachers have been busy making appointments for everyone, so if, as yet, you do not have an appointment please contact your child's class teacher on Monday to make arrangements for a meeting. As you know, we are offering a blended approach, so if you have not done so already, please do tell the teachers if you want a Zoom or face to face meeting.
     
    The termly questionnaire for parents / carers came out via Class Dojo during the holiday and can be accessed using the link below 
     
     
    As always we thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate that this takes time but your feedback is invaluable to us as we continually strive to improve the educational experience we provide for the children and families we serve. 
     
    Please do allow your children to be part of the meeting so that they also know how they are doing and what they need to work on. The importance of the co-education of your child cannot be overstated.
     
    Year 4
    Year 4 are off to the Thames Barrier on Monday. We are sure they will have a great time. If you have not paid for the trip or handed the form in, please do so first thing on Monday.
     
    Year 5 
    Year 5 will be taking part in a Road Safety Workshop on Monday afternoon. Please do talk to the children about this when they come home. 
     
    Year 6
    Year 6 have their Viking Day on Tuesday. We are looking forward to seeing some fantastic costumes.
     
    Year 1 and Year 6
    The children in Year 1 will be welcoming the Birds of Prey on Thursday as part of their topic all about Woodland Life. Year 6 will also be having the same experience as part of their development of their Cultural Capital.

    What a lovely week last week was - well done to you all and thank you for all the support you continue to show us. We are lucky to work with such a wonderful community.
     
    It is hard to believe it is the last week of this half term already - where is the time going. It is certainly going to be a busy one!
     
    Reception - Year 6
    Please remember that the nurses are in on Monday for the first round of flu immunisations. You can give your consent if you have not done so already using this link - https://london.schoolvaccination.uk/flu/2023/havering 
    If you consent from now they may have to wait until the second date to have their immunisation.
    Even if you do not wish for your child to have the vaccine, please complete the online form so that your wishes can be recorded.
     
    Year 5
    Year 5 have their Roman Day on Monday. We are looking forward to seeing some fantastic costumes.
     
    Year 2 and Year 5
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 2 (Tuesday - 9.30-10.30) 
    and Year 5 (Wednesday - 9.10-10.30) parents for Learn with my Child. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    Year 1
    Year 1 are off to Thorndon Country Park on Wednesday to look for the Gruffalo. We are sure they will have a great time. If you have not paid for the trip or handed the form in, please do so by Monday at the latest.
     
    Year 3
    Year 3 are off to Barleylands on Thursday. Please ensure arrival to school is prompt so that the coaches can leave on time. Please also ensure that if permission slips or money has not been sent in that these are in by Tuesday at the latest. Thank you in advance.
     
    HEST
    As per the information that came out last week our HEST team are looking forward to meeting you for Afternoon Tea on Tuesday at 2pm. Please come to the office to sign in.

    Natasha Brind's Bright Day
    On Thursday, we invite our whole community to come to school in bright colours. It would be lovely to see parents / carers getting involved as well. This is in memory of Natasha, our much loved member of staff who sadly and very unexpectedly passed away two years ago. If you would like to donate to Cancer Research, a charity dear to Natasha and her family, please do so but there is no obligation.
     
    Due to their trip - Bright Day for Year 3 will be on Wednesday.

    It is hard to believe that we only have two weeks of this half term left - where is the time going! 

    Thank you to all of those who showed their support for the school on Thursday by having a school dinner! 
     
    World Mental Health Day

    On Tuesday we will be supporting World Mental Health Day. This is a charity close to the school's heart and we ask that the children come to school in non-uniform including something yellow - this can be a small as a hair clip, a pattern on socks etc. to show their support. If you wish to donate this will also be gratefully received. PE will continue as normal. 

     
    Wow Day 2023
    Year 1 to Year 6 will be taking part in our annual Wow Day on Wednesday. This will be led by The 2 John's and will focus on online safety. As per the letter sent yesterday there is a virtual session for parents / carers at 8pm - please do join it really will be worth it to help keep your children safe online. 
     
    Year 4
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 4 parents / carers on Friday for Learn with my Child at 9.10am - 10.30am. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    Sport
    Good luck to the Year 5 and 6 Cross Country Team who take part in a Borough Competition on Thursday.
     
    School Closure
    Please do not forget that Friday 20th October is a staff training day and therefore the school will be closed to children.

    We finish for half term at the end of the day on Thursday 18th October. We return to school on Monday 30th October.

    Another good week was had at Clockhouse last week with another busy week coming up. As always thank you for all you do and your on-going support.

     
    Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Harvest collection. The Foodbank were delighted with all that they received.

    Special Dinner for all
    On Thursday we have the first special dinner day of the year. It would be really good to get as many people as possible having dinner on Thursday as this determines some of our schools funding. We really do appreciate your help in this matter. The menu was sent on Class Dojo on Friday.
     
    Things to be aware of
    Hopefully you saw the letters about the trips we have planned for the year, which came home last week. We hope this is useful.
     
    On 10th October we will be celebrating World Mental Health Day. Children are invited to wear something yellow to recognise this. A letter will be coming out about this.
     
    11th October is out annual WOW Day for Year 1 - Year 6. This year we will be focussing on Online Safety - an important and hot topic, I am sure you will agree. Please be aware there will be a virtual session for parents / carers in the evening at 8pm. Please keep it free, further information will follow.

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 25th September 2023

    Thank you to everyone who helped us remember our much loved member of staff on Friday, I know it meant a lot to us and the family. 
     
    The children have all settled into the year and we are certainly seeing some fabulous learning taking place across the school. As I walk around the school, it is fabulous to see them so settled and working so hard. As always, thank you for your on-going support - it really is a team effort in every sense of the word.
     
    Thank you to all those who attended Meet the Teacher last week. It was lovely to welcome you. Thank you also to all those parents who are really supporting their children and practising the children's reading and spellings with them at home as well as number bond and times tables. Please remember every time the children read at home and you sign their Reading Record book, they get a raffle ticket and are entered into our weekly prize draw - you have to be in it to win it!
     
    Governor Day
    Our Governors will be in school on Tuesday and will be in the playground at the start and end of the day, please do take the time to speak to them should you wish to.
     
    Harvest Festival
    On Friday we will be having our annual Harvest Festival with the children. As per the letter that came out last week, we will be collecting for the Food Bank who are in great need at the moment. Please send donations in with the children and we will pass these on.
     
    Year 6 
    Please do not forget that you are invited to attend a meeting on Monday at 5pm regarding SATs and the Year 6 residential. Please come to the Key Stage 2 building. We look forward to seeing you. 
     
    Bower Park Academy will also be visiting the Year 6 children on Thursday to discuss the transition to secondary school.
