  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 28th September 2020

    Sun 27 Sep 2020

We had another good week at Clockhouse last week despite the strange and tricky times we are living through. The children continue to be fabulous as do our whole community. We really could not do this without your unreserved support.

Thank you to all those parents who are really supporting their children and practising the children's reading and spellings with them at home as well as number bond, times tables and completing home learning. We are really seeing the difference in school and it is lovely to see all your messages about this on Dojo. Remember every time the children read at home that get a raffle ticket and are entered into our weekly prize draw - you have to be in it to win it!

    Harvest Festival
On Tuesday we will be having our annual Harvest Festival with the children. As per the letter that came out, we will not be able to accept tins but urge you, should you be out shopping, to put a food donation in one of the Food Bank drop off points at a supermarket. If you wish to take a picture doing this we would love to see it.

    Year 6
As is normal at this time of year, secondary schools want to introduce themselves to the Year 6 children prior to you all making your final decision regarding choices for Secondary School. On Tuesday morning Bower Park Academy will be Zooming into Year 6 to introduce themselves.

    Coronavirus
Thank you to all those parents and carers who have responded positively to our request to wear masks when queuing and on site. This is really appreciated. We also do understand that some people are exempt and if you are able to wear your badge we would be grateful. Thank you also to you for ensuring orderly queueing and social distancing whilst doing so. Whilst I know the queuing system is not ideal, please can I request that people do not push in the queue as tempting as it is. It is not fair on others who have queued which I am sure you can understand.

Just as a reminder, please be aware, should your child or anyone in your household develop symptoms of Coronavirus - a temperature of 37.8 or above (this is in line with Government guidance), a loss of taste or smell or a continuous cough, your child must NOT come to school. As a family you will all need to isolate and get a test for the person who has symptoms only. Tests can be booked using the link below:

Other than for the above reason, or your child is too unwell to attend school, they should come to school everyday. If you are unsure, please ask.

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 21st September 2020

    Sun 20 Sep 2020

Another good week was had at Clockhouse last week and we are slowly adjusting to the new normal! I have to say the children have been nothing short of amazing and we continue to be thankful to work with such a supportive community. It was lovely to welcome the new Reception children and some of the new Nursery children to Clockhouse last week and like the rest of our new children, they have settled so well. We look forward to welcoming more Nursery children this week.

Thank you also for the support given to Jeans for Genes day. We will let you know how much we have raised for this worthwhile charity once the counting has been completed.

    No Cost Uniform Shop
I know many of you have asked about this very important provision. We are currently working together to devise a system that will allow clothing to be got from the No Cost Uniform Shop and will communicate this with you all soon.

    Coronavirus
In the near future we will be updating our website to reflect the most current information with regards to Coronavirus including a frequently asked questions section to help you. Please also watch the video that was sent out last weeek if you have not already seen it:

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 14th September 2020

    Sun 13 Sep 2020
It was certainly lovely to welcome the children from Year 1 to Year 6 back to school last week as well as welcoming our Reception and Nursery families throughout the week. The children certainly lived up to expectation and took the changes in their stride. They settled quickly into their classes with lots of learning taking place. We hope, as the week progressed, dropping off and picking your children up became easier. Thank you for your understanding regarding this.

    Reception
Welcome to our Reception children who all start on Monday. We look forward to welcoming the children and their families to Clockhouse.

    Nursery
Welcome to some of our Nursery children who will be starting with us later in the week, as with Reception we look forward to welcoming the children and their families to Clockhouse.

    Meet the Teacher
As many of you know, normally during this time we hold short 'Meet the Teacher' sessions. Obviously this is not possible at the moment but again we are not put off by this and have come up with an alternative. Look out for a short presentation video coming out from each teacher towards the end of the week, where they will talk to you about the year ahead. If you have any questions that you would like them to answer please send them a message.

Online Reading and Maths resources to use at home
Please remember that Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress, Times Table Rock Stars and SumDog, the online programmes that we subscribe to, are available for the children. If you cannot remember your password please speak to your child’s class teacher who will be able to reissue it to you .

    Class Dojo
If you have not yet signed into Class Dojo please ask your class teacher for your login details. If you have a new phone or device and need the password again to access the Dojo please also ask, it really is such a helpful and valuable communication tool for us and you as well as a way of celebrating your children's achievements in school. More so now than ever as, we will only be sending home paper letters in exceptional circumstances and we are sure you do not want to miss anything.

    Jeans for Genes Day
As you will already know, Friday is Jeans for Genes Day, for a small contribution to this worthwhile charity the children can come to school wearing jeans on Friday. If they do not have jeans, jogging bottoms or such are fine as well as own tops. Please ensure though that children are suitably dressed for school, including foot wear, school rules regarding jewellery still apply.
If your child has PE on Friday, please send them to school in their PE kit and we will arrange another day for them to take part. We will communicate this with you at the beginning of next week.

    Things to be aware of
Please remember to send children to school in PE kits on their PE Days, this will take some getting used to but we will get there.

When reading with your child at home, please comment about the on Class Dojo so that they get their raffle ticket and are entered into the weekly draw.

Please remember to stick to allotted times when picking up and dropping off. Year 1 please do not worry if your queue is a little longer this week, this is inevitable with Reception joining us. Nursery children will be entering through the driveway gate when they start but this will be 10 minutes before Year 2 and Year 3 in the morning and 10 minutes after them in the afternoon so this should not affect the queue.

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 7th September 2020

    Sun 06 Sep 2020

Welcome back to the new school year everyone!!

We all hope that you have had and are still having a fantastic Summer Holiday and enjoyed lots of time with family and friends. We are looking forward to hearing about all your adventures.

As you are aware the staff went back to school last Thursday and have been busy training and getting the school ready for the children's return. We really cannot wait to see you all and although probably a little apprehensive (understandably), we hope in the main families are excited to return and get some sense of normality back. Please do only come at your allotted time (in the morning and the evening) to make things easier for everyone. We recognise that the times do not suit everyone, but as we are sure you can understand had to make decisions for the good of everyone. We are sure once we get into the swing of things, the new routine will work.

I hope, by now, you have read and seen all the information that has been sent out about our return to help and reassure you as well as preparing the children for how school will look for the foreseeable future. I will not go over it again here, but all information can be found on School Story and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to message us. I know many of you have seen the video sent on Friday about entrances, exits and what the school look like. If you have not please follow the link below:

Please do remember that PE kit should be worn on the days that your child has PE. Up until half term and as far as is possible, this will be outside. I know teachers have already shared PE days, but again, if you have any questions please do ask.

This week we will be launching our 'Back Together' Curriculum to support the children in their return to school. Please do ask them about what they have been up to and if you or they have any questions, concerns or worries please communicate these with your class teacher via Class Dojo.

Those children in Year 4 to 6 who had permission to leave classrooms on their own last year will be allowed to leave from the back gate independently on Monday and Tuesday this week unless we are told otherwise. A new permission letter will be coming home on Monday, the new list will take effect from Wednesday.

There will also be a VERY IMPORTANT letter on Monday which is our Coronavirus addition to our Home School Agreement, please ensure that this is returned to school immediately. Look out also for a little gift to mark the children's return.

Please be aware that, moving forward, any letters sent home will be done so electronically, unless we need something returned. These will be posted on Class / School Story. Whole school letters will also be posted on the school's Facebook page.

Once again welcome back everyone, here's to another successful year at Clockhouse Primary!

We cannot wait to see our Clockhouse Family!

    Kind regards
    Mrs Savidge
