Our theme for the Autumn term is:
In this topic we will first be learning about the people who live in these areas and how their life is different from ours. We will also be learning about different polar animals and how their bodies are adapted to the climate they live in. We will become investigative learners by finding out how ice is formed and will even be making our own blubber glove. We will also become explorers when learning about different polar expeditions. Later on in the term we will be focusing on the transport and how it is different to transport in our country. We will finish our topic with a focus on the film ‘The Polar Express’.
In spring our theme is:
Castles and Knights
We will begin our topic by learning all about castles. We will be thinking about the people who lived in them, their defense structures and where they are in the country. We will even visit a local castle! Also, we will attempt to create our own model castles out of a range of household packaging. In the second half of the term we will be learning all about famous knights, including St. George. We will be able to test lots of different materials to create our own outfit fit for a knight. We will finish our topic by becoming knights ourselves and creating our own castle with different defense structures and act out a famous battle scene.
Our theme for Summer 1 is:
We will learn all about the different food groups and how we can make sure we stay fit and healthy. We will learn all about how exercise is good for our body and what changes might happen to our body when we exercise. We will also be learning about Florence Nightingale and how she helped to improve hospitals through her amazing charity work.
Our final theme in Summer 2 is:
To end our fabulous year we will be learning all about China. We will find out where it is on a map and what the weather is like there. We will also have the opportunity to learn about the food they eat, their customs and traditions. In science, we will learn all about the animals that live in China and their habitat. We will finish the year with a Chinese inspired day where children and parents will be able to immerse themselves in lots of different activities based around China.
