Victorian School Visit
As part of our work on Victorians, the children experienced what it would have been like to have been a child in a Victorian school. The children were told where to sit and everyone was facing the front. They had to stand up when an adult walked into the room or when they were answering a question. Girls could only give out work to the girls and boys could only give out work to the boys. They learnt about the punishments they would get if they misbehaved in class.
All of the children enjoyed the experience. Here are some of the things which they said,
"She is very strict!"
"I was worried that I was going to get the finger stocks because I kept on fiddling with my hair."
"Is she going to be our next teacher?"
