  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 29th January 2024

    Another good week was had a Clockhouse last week and as always we thank you for the support you give us with all that we do at all times! 
     
    All our visitors were certainly impressed with what they saw and our children were nothing short of amazing - as always! In fact many of the visitors said they are 'incredible'. 
     
    Reception
    We look forward to welcoming our Reception parents for Learn with my Child on Wednesday and Thursday (please check with teachers if you are not sure which day you are due to come). As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    Year 3
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 3 parents / carers for Learn with my Child on Tuesday morning at 9.30am - 10.30am. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    OCA (Our Clockhouse Association)
    OCA are also busy planning their Spring and Summer events. If you would like to join the OCA Team at any point, please speak to Mr Koten or let the office know who will pass a message to him.
     
    Choir
    Good luck to the Choir who are off to the O2 on Monday to take part in the Young Voices event.
     
    Sport
    Good luck to the Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby team who are taking part in a Borough competition on Tuesday.
     
    Things to be aware of
    Please remember that all up and coming trips etc. can be paid on sQuid or via the school office. We really do value and need your contributions for such events to go ahead. Thank you in advance.
     
    The week beginning 5th February is Mental Health Week and as per the letter sent out previously the children are invited to 'dress to express' on Friday 9th February.

    Another good week was had a Clockhouse last week and as always we thank you for the support you give us with all that we do! 
     
    Thank you for all those who supported us and had the special dinner on Thursday. We hope the children enjoyed it!
     
    We are very much looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors to Clockhouse this week who would like to see all the fabulous things that we do.
     
    Governor Day
    Our Governors will be in school on Tuesday and will be in the playground at the start and end of the day, please do take the time to speak to them should you wish to.
     
    Year 5
    Year 5 are very much looking forward to their Mayan Workshop on Wednesday.
     
    Year 1
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 1 parents / carers for Learn with my Child on Thursday morning at 9.30am - 10.30am. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.

    Things to be aware of
    Mental Health Week is the week beginning 5th February and we will be recognising this in school with the children.

    Another busy week was had last week - just the way we like it and it was lovely to see the children working hard and loving their learning all at the same time!
     
    We have another busy week ahead. Read on to find out more!
     
    Arts Festival
    This week sees our annual Arts Festival Week. Along with all their other learning, the children will be busy getting their creative side going...watch this space!
     
    Year 6
    From Monday to Wednesday, the Year 6 children will be sitting Mock SATs tests. Please speak to your child's class teacher after the tests if you wish to know how they got on do that you can further support them at home - every bit really does help!
     
    Year 5 and 6
    For those children who have been selected to do Bikeability, please do not forget that this starts on Monday. Please ensure that the children come to school appropriately equipped for this.
     
    Year 4
    Year 4 have their VR ECO Workshop on Monday. 
     
    Phonics Workshop
    Miss Page will be running a workshop for parents / carers in Year 1 on Tuesday. This will be focussing on helping your child at home with their phonics and reading. Please remember there are three possible sessions - 9.00am and 2.45pm (face-to-face) and 7.00pm on Zoom (link to follow). It is not too late to sign up and if you are interested and are not in Year 1, you are also welcome to attend. Please let the office know.
     
    Special Dinner for all
    On Thursday we have the first special dinner day of the year. It would be really good to get as many people as possible having dinner on Thursday as this determines some of our schools funding. We really do appreciate your help in this matter. A copy of the menu was shared on Friday.
    Sport
    Good luck to the Year 3 Badminton team who take part in a borough competition on Monday.

    It was lovely to welcome everyone back to school next week and the two days certianly eased us back in. Back to normal this week and full steam ahead!
     
    As requested last week, please ensure the children come to school with all the necessary equipment they require - water bottles, coats, reading books and diaries and anything else they need. Please can we also remind you of the importance of full school uniform / PE uniform and that this along with coats are clearly named. 
     
    Clubs
    Please remember that all clubs resume this week.
     
    Year 5
    Year 5 have their Space Workshop on Thursday. Thank you to all those who have already paid for this. If you have not done so, please do so by the end of the day on Tuesday.
     
    Year 5 - China Swimming
    Please be aware that China's swimming sessions start on Friday.
     
    Is your child, or a child you know due to start Reception in September 2024
    We are looking forward to welcoming prospective parents / carers into school on Thursday at 10.00am. We can accommodate those looking for Nursery or Reception places on the tours. Please call the school to book this or a tour later in the term. Places on each tour are limited and are filling up quickly.
     
    Please remember that applications for Reception 2024 need to be submitted by 15th January. Even if you child attends our Nursery you MUST still apply. This is done through the Local Authority website.
     
    School Nurse Drop In
    Should you wish to speak to the School Nurse she will be available for you to 'drop in' on Tuesday 8.30am. Please call the Key Stage 2 Office to book a slot or just drop in.
     
    Things to be aware of
    Year 1 families have their rescheduled Phonics session on Tuesday 16th January (9am and 2.30pm - face to face, 7.00pm on Zoom). If you would like to attend, please let the office know.

    Happy New Year everyone!
     
    We all hope that you have had a fantastic Christmas and that 2024 has got off to a good start for you all! On behalf of all the staff a huge thank you for all the lovely cards and gifts we received prior to the Christmas break. It really was so appreciated.
     
    We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone bright and early and to hear about holidays and adventures. Please ensure that all the children return to school with all the necessary equipment they require - water bottles, coats, reading books and diaries and anything else they need. Please can we also remind you of the importance of full school uniform / PE uniform and that this along with coats are clearly named. PE will start again from tomorrow.
     
    Clubs
    Please remember that there are no clubs this week, these will resume next Monday with the exception of Rise So You Shine, which will be back tomorrow.
     
    Year 4
    Year 4 have their annual Egyptian Day on Friday. We are looking forward to seeing some fantastic costumes. 
     
    Year 6
    Please remember that Year 6 are off to Gunpowder Mill on Friday, please ensure consent forms and your voluntary contribution are returned first thing on Thursday if you have not done so already.

    Well, it is almost impossible to believe that we only have 2 days to go until the end of the term. What a term it has been! I am sure you will agree that it has been a successful time at Clockhouse for so many different reasons and I hope, as we move to the Christmas holidays, we can all reflect positively on the last term. The children have certainly done you and us so, so proud. Their resilience and determination to succeed never ceases to amaze us each day!
     
    Last week in school we continued to try to give the children a fantastic Christmas experience. The story of Winston continues this week. We hope the children enjoyed Christmas Dinner on Friday. I have to say the children (and staff) all looked amazing in their Christmas jumpers!
     
    OCA Raffle
    We are very excited that both the children's and adult's raffles organised by OCA will be drawn on Monday after school! Keep an eye on the school Facebook page for the announcement.
     
    Parties
    Tuesday is non-uniform day and Christmas parties. Rumour has it that there is special visitor coming to see us too.

    Well, it is almost impossible to believe that we are in the final full week of this term. What a term is has been! I am sure you will agree that it has been a successful time at Clockhouse for so many different reasons.  I cannot thank each and everyone of you enough for the part you have played in this and for your on-going support and kindness.
     
    Last week in school we continued to try to give the children a fantastic Christmas experience. We hope you are enjoying the Winston story so far. If you attended concerts last week, we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did and thank you being so good at adhering to the rules - it really is appreciated.
     
    Key Stage 2 Concerts
    This week sees the Year 3 and 4 concert and the Year 5 and 6 Carol Concert. The dates are as follows:
    11th December                 Year 3 and 4 Concert  - 9.30am ( Brazil / Uganda / Kenya)
    11th December                 Year 3 and 4 Concert  - 2.30pm (Argentina  / Peru / South Africa)
    12th December                 Year 5 and 6 Carol Service - 2.00pm / 7.00pm
     
    Please remember that younger siblings are not permitted to attend concerts.
     
    Nursery
    We are very much looking forward to welcoming Nursery parents into school on Wednesday and Thursday. Please speak to the Nursery Team if you are not sure which day to attend. 
     
    Reception and Year 1
    The annual Fluoride Varnish visit from the Dental Team will be happening on Monday for Reception and Year 1.
     
    Year 2 
    Year 2 are off to Colchester Zoo on Thursday. If you have not yet sent in money and consent forms please ensure this is done first thing Monday morning.
     
    Year 4
    Year 4 are off to the church on Tuesday. Please ensure that consent forms are returned by Monday at the latest if you have not done so already.
     
    Christmas Friday
    Friday is Christmas Jumper Day. The children do not need to come to school in uniform, Christmas Jumpers and appropriate bottoms, we will be raising money for St. Francis Hospice, should you wish to contribute. This is also Christmas Dinner Day, Unlike previous years, you do not need to sign up for this. The children can order their dinner in the morning without pre-booking.
     
    School Nurse Drop In

    HEST Get Together

    Well Christmas officially hit Clockhouse last week. The children enjoyed decorating the school on Friday. I am sure you will agree from the pictures, it certainly looks very Christmassy! As you will have seen, Winston the mouse has made a come back this year and we hope you are enjoying the story so far! This week, in school we will continue to try to give the children a fantastic Christmas experience. 
     
    The Christmas Concerts start this week. The dates are as follows:
    4th December   Concert Dress Rehearsal - 9.30am  (Mexico / France / Scotland)
    4th December   Concert Dress Rehearsal – 2.30pm (USA / Spain / Northern Ireland)
    5th December   Concert Dress Rehearsal – 9.30am  (Canada / Italy / Wales)
    5th December   PM Nursery Christmas Concert @ 2.30pm 
    6th December   AM Nursery Christmas Concert @ 9.15am
    6th December   KS1 Concert - 2.30pm (Mexico / France / Scotland)
    7th December   KS1 Concert  - 9.30am (USA / Spain / Northern Ireland)

    Year 6 are off you Bower Park on Thursday to watch their Christmas performance. Please ensure consent forms are sent in by Tuesday if you have not done so already.

    As you know last week was a slightly quieter week at Clockhouse but this week, as we move further through the term and with December hitting on Friday, we are looking forward to really going with Christmas at Clockhouse! 
     
    Our Clockhouse Christmas
    We are very excited to officially launch Our Clockhouse Christmas on Friday.
     
    On Friday, the children will be spending some time transforming their classrooms and the whole school into Christmas. We want to go even bigger and better than last year. This is where you come in. If you have any spare decorations that you would be willing to donate to us, we really would be most grateful. Please either give these to class teachers or hand to the main school office. Thank you in advance.
     
    Each week, up until Christmas, we have lots of lovely things planned which will be integrated into the children's learning. We hope this will ensure that the children have the best time possible in the lead up to the big day.
     
    Reception - Year 6
    Please remember that the nurses are back on Monday to complete any flu immunisations that were missed previously.
     
    Year 1
    Miss Page will be running a workshop for parents / carers in Year 1 on Tuesday. This will be focussing on helping your child at home with their phonics and reading.     After the last few busy weeks, we have a quieter week at school this week as we gear up to what we hope will be another memorable Clockhouse Christmas (watch out for more information).

    Year 6
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 6 parents for Learn with my Child on Wednesday morning 9.10am - 10.30am. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    Cake Sale
    Friday sees the Christmas Fundraising Day and the annual Cake Sale. Please send any cakes into school either on or before Friday as well as giving the children a small amount to buy some cakes!
