  • Weekly reminders for 30th January 2023

    Another good week was had a Clockhouse last week and as always we thank you for the support you give us with all that we do at all times!
     
    Dentist Checks
    The dental team will be in school on Monday to carry out the dental checks for children in Reception and Year 1.
     
    Strike Action
    Further to the letter sent last week, please be aware that classes France and Peru will be closed to children on Wednesday. All other classes will be open and children in these classes are expected to attend as normal. Thank you for your understanding and support at this time. 
     
    Reception
    We look forward to welcoming our Reception parents for Learn with my Child on Thursday and Friday (please check with teachers if you  are not sure which day you are due to come). As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    OCA (Our Clockhouse Association)
    We are very excited that the postponed disco from before Christmas will be going ahead after school on Wednesday. Children in France and Peru can still attend.
     
    OCA are also busy planning their Spring and Summer events. If you would like to join the OCA Team at any point, please speak to Mr Koten or let the office know who will pass a message to him.
     
    Sport
    Good luck to the Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby team who are taking part in a Borough competition on Thursday.
     
    Things to be aware of
    Please remember that all up and coming trips etc. can be paid on sQuid or via the school office. We really do value and need your contributions for such events to go ahead. Thank you in advance.

    Another good week was had a Clockhouse last week and as always we thank you for the support you give us with all that we do! 
     
    Thank you for all those who supported us and had the special dinner on Thursday. We hope the children enjoyed it, we served over 450 dinners - a record for these days! We have another special dinner coming up very soon - watch this space!
     
    Arts Festival Week
    This week sees our annual Arts Festival where the children will be taking part in some focused art and music activities. The theme for this year is nature. We look forward to sharing the children's creations with you.
     
    School Nurse Drop In
    Should you wish to speak to the School Nurse she will be available for you to 'drop in' on Tuesday 2.30pm - 3.30pm. Please call the Key Stage 2 Office to book a slot or just drop in.
     
    Governor Day
    Our Governors will be in school on Thursday and will be in the playground at the start and end of the day, please do take the time to speak to them should you wish to.
     
    Year 3
    We look forward to welcoming our Year 3 parents / carers for Learn with my Child on Friday morning at 9.10am - 11.45. Please come for as little or as much as you can. As with the other year groups, regrettably we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at these events.
     
    Is your child, or a child you know due to start Nursery in September 2023
    We are looking forward to welcoming prospective parents / carers into school on Tuesday 10.00am and again at 4.00pm. Please call the school to book this or a tour later in the term. 
     
    Sport
    Good luck to the Badminton team who take part in a borough competition on Monday.
     
    Things to be aware of
    Dates for Learn with My Child sessions were shared again last week. Due to circumstances beyond our control the originally published date for the Year 6 session has been changed to 15th March.
     
    As I am sure you are aware the main teaching union - NEU, will be striking on 1st February and then a number of days during March. We do have a number of teachers in this union and I am currently in the process of making plans for the day. I will communicate these with you as soon as I am in a position to do so but this will be by the middle of this week.

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 16th January 2023

    It was so lovely to welcome everyone back to school last week and hear about their holidays and what they had been up to. The children settled wonderfully quickly to their learning and seemed so pleased to be back! We have another busy week ahead.
     
    Reception
    Please be aware that Reception Health Checks, carried out by the School Nursing Team, will be taking place on Thursday and Friday.
     
    Year 1 and Year 2
    Year 1 and Year 2 will be taking part in a Road Safety Workshop on Tuesday. Please do speak to the children about this when they come home.
     
    Year 5
    Year 5 are off the Greenwich Maritime Museum on Tuesday. If you have not paid or sent in the consent form please ensure this is sent in on Monday. 
     
    Year 6
    From Wednesday to Friday, the Year 6 children will be sitting Mock SATs tests. Please speak to your child's class teacher after the tests if you wish to know how they got on do that you can further support them at home - every bit really does help!
     
    Choir
    Good luck to the Choir who are off to the O2 on Tuesday to take part in the Young Voices event. Tickets were distributed via the App on Friday.
     
    Special Dinner for all
    On Thursday we have the first special dinner day of the year. It would be really good to get as many people as possible having dinner on Thursday as this determines some of our schools funding. We really do appreciate your help in this matter. We are still awaiting a copy of the menu but will share this with you as soon as we have it.

    Welcome Back!
     
    A huge thank you for your understanding and kind words following the sudden change to the reopening of the school last week. We all look forward to seeing everyone bright and early tomorrow and to hear about holidays and adventures. 
     
    Please ensure that all the children return to school with all the necessary equipment they require - water bottles, coats, reading books and diaries and anything else they need. Please can we also remind you of the importance of full school uniform / PE uniform and that this along with coats are clearly named. PE will start again from tomorrow.
     
    Clubs
    Please remember that all clubs resume this week.
     
    Year 5 - Japan Swimming
    Please be aware that Japan's swimming sessions resume on Monday.
     
    Is your child, or a child you know due to start Nursery or Reception in September 2023
    We are looking forward to welcoming prospective parents / carers into school on Thursday 12th January at 10.00am. We can accommodate those looking for Nursery or Reception places on the tours. Please call the school to book this or a tour later in the term. Places on each tour are limited and are filling up quickly.
     
    Please remember that applications for Reception 2023 need to be submitted by 15th January. Even if you child attends our Nursery you MUST still apply. This is done through the Local Authority website.

    Happy New Year everyone!
     
    We all hope that you have had a fantastic Christmas and that 2023 has got off to a good start for you all! On behalf of all the staff a huge thank you for all the lovely cards and gifts we received prior to the Christmas break and for taking the time to bring them to us at the end of term. It really was so appreciated.
     
    A huge thank you for your understanding and kind words during the rather unexpected end of term. At the time of writing there have been no further updates so it is our full intention to welcome you all back to school tomorrow (Thursday 5th January) but I will update you later to confirm. We all look forward to seeing everyone bright and early and to hear about holidays and adventures.

    Reception and Nursery
    Due to the gas works, for the next two days there will be no access to the Reception and Nursery playground for anyone. This means that all Nursery children will leave by the front door and all Reception children will enter and exit by the main school doors by the Key Stage 1 office. We should be back to normal on Monday, but will keep you updated. Thank you for your understanding.
