  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 27th April 2020

    Sun 26 Apr 2020

    Good morning Clockhouse

I hope you are all well and keeping safe and the same is true for your wider families. It really is such a tricky time but we must do as we are told and stay at home for the good of everyone and so that we can come together again as soon as is possible. In the meantime I hope you are enjoying your time together and making the most of this very special family time!

We hope you enjoyed the video message that we sent out yesterday and all the different things that came your way during last week. It was lovely to see so many of you following Mrs Everingham’s work out, getting involved with Mr Yarrow’s challenge as well as our community coming together (from a distance) for St. George’s Day. You all looked fabulous in your red and white! We also hope you found the changes we made to the way work was set and what was set, following your feedback, useful. Please do feedback anything else that you think will help us and others.

As I said last week, please do not stress yourselves or your child, all that we send out is designed to give you a range of things to do and we do not expect everything to be done. In terms of priority, should you want this, the work on Google Classroom is probably the most important. The rest provides you with a mix of things to keep you busy should you need this. From all your photos, it has been lovely to see all that things that you have been getting up to. There have been so many hidden talents to see, we really are so proud of you all. Having lots of fun and spending time as a family at this difficult time is also so, so important. Please just do what you can, we totally understand how hard it is!

This week, the following is still the case:

    • There will be a small number of staff in school everyday on a rota basis.
    • The best way to contact teachers / school staff is messaging via Class Dojo, they will be online throughout the day this week and will get back to you as soon as they can. You can also communicate with them via Google Classroom.
    • The school phones will only be manned between 8.00am and 3.30pm. Please do not hesitant to call, even if it is only for a chat. If we cannot talk at that moment, someone will get back to you as soon as they can. Please only use option 3 and 5, as other lines will not be manned due to the reduced work force each day.
    • Should your child be eligible for Free School Meals and moving forward you decide that you need support, please alert us in good time.

Look out this week for a special challenge that we need your help with – you will need a toilet roll! This will be coming home as the challenge of the day for Monday, so keep an eye out for that. There will also be two further challenges next week, where we will be asking for you help.

    Year 3

Do not forget you have your Greek Day on Thursday. We are looking forward to seeing your costumes. If any other year group wishes to get involved you are of course welcome – please send your pictures in!

We are busy planning a special week for you all for the week beginning 4th May and this will include celebrating the very important VE Day on 8th May!

Please keep sharing your pictures with us, we love seeing them and it really does brighten up our day. By sharing with us via class dojo or our other platforms, we will take this as your consent for wider sharing. If you do not want photos shared please do not send them.

These are very strange and difficult times for us all and we will continue to do all we can to support you, please just ask! We really do miss you all and truly cannot wait see you again – let’s just hope that this day is not too far away!

I am sure you will want to join with me in thanking those in our community who are front line and key workers and also our great staff team, they really are amazing and I do have to say how proud I feel personally, to have the honor to lead such a great team, school and community – thank you to you all!

Look out for the April Newsletter coming out this week. It is a bit different to normal, but I hope you like it all the same.

We are still one community and are here for you all. Our school – a family and a home for everyone!

    Keep smiling and stay safe

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 20th April 2020

    Sun 19 Apr 2020

    Good morning Clockhouse

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well and doing what we all need to do at this time.

As we come to the end of the official Easter Holiday, the time has come to welcome you back to the Summer Term and what a strange term it is going to be. Who knows how it will roll out but I know together, as the fabulous community that we are, we will make the best of it and we will get there and come back together again!

As we start the new term (as such) tomorrow, we have made some changes based on the feedback from the questionnaire you kindly completed. As it is the start of the new term, work will be set on Google Classroom again. This will be sent at 4pm each evening from now on, so that you have the time to prepare should you need to. Please be aware that this is the work for the next day and should not be done that evening, no extra work will be set. If you do want to do extra you can refer to the activities on the weekly sheet which will be sent to you each Monday morning, this also provides activities that do not require technology, should this be a better option for you and your family. For Year 1 to Year 6 there will be 4 days of English and Maths learning on Google Classroom and one day of topic learning so that the children continue to get a balance. For Nursery and Reception, learning will be based around a well-known book. This has come from your feedback to make it as easy as possible for you, so thank you for your suggestions.

We will continue to look at other suggestions and consider whether we can manage these.

Please do not stress yourselves or your child, all that we send out is designed to give you a range of things to do and we do not expect everything to be done. In terms of priority, should you want this, the work on Google Classroom is probably the most important. The rest provides you with a mix of things to keep you busy should you need this. From all your photos, it has been lovely to see all that things that you have been getting up to. Having lots of fun and spending time as a family at this difficult time is also so, so important. Please just do what you can, we totally understand how hard it is! I will be sending out the recommendations parents sent in to help along the way, so keep an eye out for this.

As we return to the new term, the following is still the case:

Please keep sharing your pictures with us, we love seeing them. By sharing with us via class dojo or our other platforms, we will take this as your consent for wider sharing. If you do not want photos shared please do not send them.

These are very strange times and we will continue to do all we can to support you, please just ask!

I am sure you will want to join with me in thanking those in our community who are front line and key workers and also our great staff team. Thank you for your kind messages and on-going support, it really keeps us going and makes us smile.

Look out for something very special coming out later today, which we hope you will enjoy.

We are still one community and are here for you all. Our school – a family and a home for everyone!

    Keep smiling and stay safe

  • Weekly reminders for week beginning 13th April 2020

    Sun 12 Apr 2020

    Good morning Clockhouse

We all hope that you enjoyed the weekend and made the most of it under the strange and difficult times we find ourselves in. Thank you for sharing all your lovely photos from last week as well as your lovely feedback via the many different platforms we use. We are glad you enjoyed the video. If you have not seen it yet is can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=0P7L7_CbdA8&feature=emb_logo

Thank you to all those who have already taken the time to complete the online questionnaire that was sent out at the beginning of the Easter Holiday. It is not too late to do this. The questionnaire will run to the end of this week and can be accessed by using the following link -

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdoW0WJrx8CYehXMqOuFskarisUtSKUUEybb9N8k89nExrvoA/viewform

Your feedback and thoughts are important to us. We have taken on board many of your comments and where possible will use these to improve our practice.

I hope you are all keeping well and staying indoors for the good of everyone so that our community can come back together as soon as possible.

As I said last week, it is the ‘Easter Holiday’ and everyone continues to deserve a bit of a rest so that our batteries can be recharged and we are ready to go again on Monday 20th April when we will return to the home schooling regime! Our advice over the holiday period continues to be to rest and have some fun, spend time as a family and just do the best you can. We would encourage you to keep some routine so that when we return after the holidays you and the children can get back into the full swing of things with relative ease.

For the next week there will be no home learning set on Google Classroom each day. This will return on Monday 20th April. There will however be a few things to look out for to keep you going, should you wish to take part:

    • On Tuesday the weekly learning sheet will be sent to you with ideas of things you can do without a computer and websites you can access should you wish
    • A daily up date from me (this will be in the evening)
    • The next 5 parts of the 30 Day Lego Challenge
    • The Challenge of the Day
    • Look out for something called ‘Votes For Schools’ (we did not get the too you last week)
    • As well as anything else we can find you help you along the way!

Please also look out for an important letter coming out tomorrow morning regarding the provision for children eligible for Free School Meals during this time.

Other things to be aware of:

    • There will continue to be school staff in school every day, but this will be on a rota basis and will only be a skeleton staff.
    • The best way to contact teachers / school staff is messaging via Class Dojo, please be aware that this will not be manned as closely as it has been during official term time. If you do need us though we are still here and this form of communication can be used. Our responses might just be a little slower.
    • The school phones will only be manned between 7.45am and 3.30pm. Please do not hesitant to call, even if it is only for a chat. If we cannot talk at that moment, someone will get back to you as soon as they can. Please only use option 3 and 5, as other lines will not be manned due to the reduced work force each day.
    • We will continue to ask for a weekly return from those key workers who may need child care for the next week, please do let us know as soon as possible. Please do keep in mind that the government are very clear that ‘you should only send your child to school if you have to, because your work is critical to the COVID-19 response. If you are able to keep your child at home, you should’.

Please keep sharing your pictures with us, we love seeing them. By sharing with us via class dojo or our other platforms, we will take this as your consent for wider sharing. If you do not want photos shared please do not send them.

These are very strange, unprecedented times and we will continue to do all we can to support you. I do hope you are adapting to this new way of life as best you can but if you do need help we are here for all of you.

I am sure you will want to join with me in thanking those in our community who are front line and key workers and also our great staff team.

Thank you for your kind messages and on-going support, it really keeps us going and makes us smile.

We are still one community and are here for you all. Our school – a family and a home for everyone!
