Who leads Computing at Clockhouse?
We are Mrs Overton and Mrs Savidge, the Computing and Online Safety lead at Clockhouse. We love helping the teachers teach Computing and watching the classroom come to life in our fun and practical lessons! We enjoy seeing the children use a range of equipment and transfer these skills across the curriculum. Not only that, we have so much fun too!
What is Computing all about at Clockhouse?
At Clockhouse, we teach the three strands of the curriculum: Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. Our curriculum provides skills which help children to understand the digital world around us.
Computing is a subject which progresses through the years at Clockhouse. We promote excitement, aspiration, excellence and above all fun in our practical lessons that engage the children. Children use a range of software to support their learning including Scratch, Sketch Up, Kodu and Turtle Logo.
We are also equipped with a range of hardware; Chromebooks, laptops, Computers and iPads. The children are able to transfer these skills by using a variety of equipment to support their learning. Children work collaboratively in lessons, developing their computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
The Computing curriculum has strong links with other subjects including Maths, Science, DT and PSHE, whereby children are able to strengthen their skill set even further. Children are taught the fundamentals and with this, are able to apply their growing knowledge to other areas of the curriculum.
The school continues to draw on this and its own experience each year to create a bespoke, relevant, innovative and creative curriculum for all children.
