#ourclockhousefamily Welcome to our school! Are you looking for a place in 2025 (Nursery or Reception) - book on one of our tours!

Weekly reminders for week beginning 3rd January 2022

Happy New Year everyone!

We all hope that you have had a fantastic Christmas and that 2022 has got off to a good start for you all! On behalf of all the staff a huge thank you for all the lovely cards and gifts we received prior to the Christmas break.

That time has come and as we are sure you are aware and we are back to school on Wednesday (5th January). Tomorrow is a staff training day so we look forward to seeing everyone bright and early on Wednesday to hear about their holidays and adventures.

Please ensure that all the children return to school with all the necessary equipment they require - water bottles, coats, home learning, reading books and diaries and anything else they need. Please can we also remind you of the importance of full school uniform / PE uniform and that this along with coats are clearly named. PE will start again from tomorrow.

Please remember that there are no clubs this week, these will resume next Monday.

Covid
I know a number of children and parents have tested positive for Covid during the holidays. We hope that you have not been too poorly. This is also the case for a number of staff.

All arrangements from prior to the holiday will continue when we return, including the wearing of masks when on the school site, please do help us with this. Other things to be aware of are:
  • Since Wednesday 22 December, the 10 day self-isolation period for people (including children) who record a positive PCR test result for COVID-19 has been reduced to 7 days in most circumstances, unless you cannot test for any reason.
  • Individuals (including children) may now take LFD tests on day 6 and day 7 of their self-isolation period. Those who receive two negative test results are no longer required to complete 10 full days of self-isolation. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 6 of the self-isolation period and tests must be taken 24 hours apart. This also applies to children under 5, with LFD testing. If both these test results are negative, and the individual does not have a high temperature, they may end your self-isolation after the second negative test result and return to your education setting from day 8.
  • People who are fully vaccinated, or children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years and 6 months, identified as a close contact of someone with COVID-19, should take an LFD test every day for seven days and continue to attend their setting as normal, unless they have a positive test result or develop symptoms at any time.
  • Children under 5 are not being advised to take part in daily testing of close contacts. If a child under 5 is a contact of a confirmed case, they are not required to self-isolate and should not start daily testing. If they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19 they should limit their contact with anyone who is at higher risk of severe illness if infected with COVID-19, and arrange to take a PCR test as soon as possible. They can continue to attend an education or childcare setting while waiting for the PCR result.
It is important to be aware, as children return to school, the current requirements for remote education continue to remain in place should this be needed. This would obviously be our absolute last resort but it is reasonable to assume that it is highly likely that the high rates of COVID-19 may cause difficulties with the availability of staff. It is our absolute commitment and priority to keep the school fully open and for children and young people continuing face-to-face education, but there is always the chance that this may not be possible. We will continue to work as flexibly as we can but obviously, as has been the case throughout the pandemic, it is important that I am open and honest with you all. We will of course keep you fully informed if remote learning is looking a likely possibility. Thank you in advance for your support with this.
